|Hard to believe, but June 10th marks my first day on the Mountain Bike. I chose my favorite trail – just technical enough to let me know that I’ve some work to do, pretty enough to remember WHY I love to Mountain Bike as much as I do….basically one of those rides that you can sing and grin the whole time.
Of course, I had to get some frustrations out…Mountain Bike Nationals with a million categories thinking that they are road nats with only 26 and stupid cold that won’t let me frickin’ BREATHE…but all in all, I met my goal. The goal was simple…10 miles and anything over that is gravy and should be viewed as FUN and not part of my training regime.
Of course, as soon as the lung cookies started to build up and my legs and arms started to get tired, I started berating myself for having such a CRAPPY ride. But then, I stopped and reminded myself that anything over the goal is gravy, and fun, and giggle time. So I slowed down, let the lung cookies do what they wanted to, let my legs do what they wanted to, watched the river, the flowers, and the red and green landscape pass by.
